Five funded PhD positions for 2027
Thanks to our new Computer Architecture Research Center, we have funding for five PhD students starting in 2027 (an earlier start may be possible). Email me early, ideally before you apply, and especially if you are still unsure whether a PhD is right for you.
Doing a PhD with us¶
Are you considering a PhD? I enjoy working with students, and seeing you develop your own research vision brings me meaning and joy.
You don't need a finished plan. If your PhD vision is still blurry, an early chat can help you find clarity, explore topics, and answer practical questions. Choosing to do a PhD may make you reflect deeply, face doubts, or build confidence in a new area, and that is normal. Worried about your CV? Your curiosity, creativity, personality, and unique path through life all count. Everyone has their own needs and circumstances, and we will shape your PhD around them.
How to apply¶
- Explore our work. Look at our research, projects, and publications, and note what excites you.
- Email me. Tell me a little about yourself and what you would like to work on, or simply ask your questions. Get in touch.
- Apply to Cambridge. Apply for the PhD in Computer Science through the University's applicant portal. I am happy to support you with your application as your plans take shape.
Funding deadlines: to be considered for funding, apply by 8 December 2026. US citizens living in the US who want to be considered for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship should apply by 14 October 2026. The department's PhD admissions page has all the details.
